Special Events

Ecotherapy — time in nature with intention — is one of the most accessible ways to restore a busy mind, ease stress, and reconnect with the world beyond your screen. The research is compelling. The experience tends to speak for itself.

Special Events with The Quiet Catch bring ecotherapy practice to small groups, occasionally and affordably. Moonlight meditation. Sunrise blue mind. Sunset sensory walks. Stargazing and stillness. Each one a different way in — and an open invitation to try something you might not have known you needed.

What to expect

Each special event is led by ecotherapy practitioner Elissa Jenkins, and draws from one of four evidence-informed practices:

  • Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing). The Japanese practice of immersive time among trees, shown to lower cortisol, reduce blood pressure, and support immune function. And beyond the science, there is also something quietly joyful about being among trees … with nowhere else to be.
  • Blue Mind Immersion. Water-based ecotherapy drawing on research into the restorative effects of blue spaces on the brain. Time near, on, or beside water reduces anxiety, improves mood, and induces a state of calm focus. It also just feels good.
  • Dark Nature (Nocturnal Ecotherapy). Evening and night-based practice that works with reduced light to deepen sensory awareness and stillness. Research links time in natural darkness with improved sleep, reduced overstimulation, and a recalibrated nervous system. There is also the feeling of awe that comes with a sky full of stars.
  • Worlding. A practice of deep presence and place-based attention that shifts how you relate to the natural world around you. Associated with increased feelings of connection, meaning, and wonder. The kind of thing that’s hard to explain and easy to feel.

Small groups. Grounded practice.

Special events are kept deliberately small – guided encounters with a particular place at a particular time, informed by emerging research in ecotherapy, blue mind, and dark nature. These events are not clinical interventions and do not replace professional mental health or medical support.
